  1. A shrew is an insectivorous MAMMAL of the 
  2. family Soricidae, found in Eurasia and the 
  3. Americas. It is mouselike, but with a long 
  4. nose and pointed teeth. The common shrew 
  5. Sorex araneus is about 7½cm (3inches) long.
